Education and Experience
Dr. Michelle Suber received her Bachelor of Science from Florida State University and graduated from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in 1998. She then completed an integrative medicine residency at North Hawaii Community Hospital with rotations in gynecology/obstetrics, cardiology, pediatrics, and internal medicine. During that residency, she worked with Lyn Lam, MD, Jim Lucas, MD, Pam McKenna, MD, John Dawson, MD and Michael Traub, ND. While opening her private practice in 1999, she continued on staff for several years at North Hawaii Community Hospital and served as chair of the Integrative Healing Committee. She is a member of the Hawaii Society of Naturopathic Physicians, the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physicians, and the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians.

Areas of Specialty
Dr. Suber provides complete naturopathic medical care for the whole family, with special interests in cardiology; women’s health, fertility and pregnancy care; endocrinology; gastroenterology; and weight loss. In addition, her clinic provides a full natural product pharmacy with the highest-quality and most reliable supplements available.

Naturopathic Approach
Dr. Suber’s patient-centered approach combines the best of today’s evidence-based medicine with safe, effective, traditional therapies. By taking ample time with her patients, listening actively, and performing physical exams and laboratory testing, Dr. Suber provides unique, individualized treatment plans for each patient, utilizing the safest, most effective methods possible. She believes that health is the patient-defined ability to participate fully in all areas of life and is committed to assisting her patients as they achieve their optimal level of health. Dr. Suber has excellent working relationships with other local physicians and health care providers. She makes expert referrals and coordinates comprehensive care as needed.

Community Involvement
To encourage stewardship of the land and support healthy eating habits, Dr. Suber founded and developed Mala’ai – The Culinary Garden of Waimea Middle School. She created this community program to provide children a hands-on experience of the connection between land, food and health and further address common health issues young people face today, such as obesity and diabetes. She is an active member of the Big Island chapter of Slow Food Hawaii.
